I usually advise folks to pick a few 9" patterns and make pot holders to start. Each pot holder will teach you all the aspects of quilting - piecing, sandwiching, quilting and binding. If you make pot holders to use - be sure to use 100% cotton batting or better yet the thermal batting specifically for heat resistance - DO NOT USE POLYESTER or a Poly Blend!!
