I too would want a machine with zig zag for doing machine applique. I have 3 machines set up to sew right now. My 2 berninas and my Singer treadle. I wouldn't want to do without any of them. I have them in a U shape in my sewing room so I can have easy access to them all depending on what I am doing. I also cannot be without a back up machine in case 1 Bernina has to go for a cleaning/maintainance check.
