I'm saving right now too. I'll be able to get the new machine sometime between end of December to April. I'm not sure if there is a 'best time to buy', like with cars - but knowing my sense of excellent timing, I'll miss the sewing machine buying 'season'. lol
I noticed that Janome model has an 11" throat, which is very desirable. The Viking has a 10". Every inch counts when trying to machine quilt!!
