Default comfort zone blown

on the weekend someone asked if we were pushing our limits.

i haven't made anything like this before. i am pretty chuffed, though i know this one isn't going to be to everyone's taste by a country mile.

these are leftovers from a steep learning curve of a lone star project. it is for a friend, and she ended up buying an absurd amount of fabric thanks to a first run disaster. given i am going to handquilt a big chunk of the lone star, i wanted to get her something lovely and reasonably quickly as a place holder, and something that used up some of the fabric she invested in. i thought a couch quilt or something she could lay at the foot of the bed to accent the lone star would be nice. this is 60x84.

i'll machine quilt it reasonably simply this weekend, and hopefully be able to give it to her next week when i cook her a birthday dinner

(look at my imaginary binding skills! lightning fast!)

anyway....thanks for giving me a place to share it.
