I would add some solid red, white and black and do any of the above suggestions or turning twenty's kinds of quilts could be another option. Also, your local library might have some books on FQ quilts. I just think some solids would give your eye a place to rest. Interestingly enough, I just went to hand quilt at church last night and we were working on a "Wickedly Easy Quilt". I had not seen nor heard of it before and here it is again this morning! It was done in brights and with the "t's" in a black background that had dots of all the other brights. really fun for a girls room or college bed.
