Default Grandmother's Flower Garden - a family project

Here is the quilt me and my 3 sisters made for our mother. My sisters are not quilters but they were happy to learn how to sew hexy flowers. And they LOVE it! We stitched together the top and I quilted it.
Since most of the time I stitch alone, in my house, sharing this with my sisters was a fantastic experience.

There are about 3400 ¾'' hexagons; the quilt measure about 65x75.

With large seam allowances under the seams (I used squares to make the hexagons)+ cotton batting, the quilt weights a lot. I would have loved to use other type of batting.

What batting do you use for such a quilt ?
