Hi all! I am a complete newbie to sewing and to quilting. I've wanted to try it for years and finally bought a machine and a week later some material. Yesterday I went to start cutting my strips and I couldn't get the second piece of fabric to fold evenly so off to the Internet....and found this great site! I also found out that I should have pre-washed my fabric. Flannel does shrink. My 9 1/2 in strips are now 9 1/4 in. The first of what I am sure will be many mistakes
