I feel lucky to have scored such a treasure. My DH said that there is a whole lot of work for somebody to just get rid of it. I said maybe the creator passed away, or had to give up her craft for some reason, and whoever took care of her belongings didn't know it's value and just got rid of it. I just hope she is happy that all her hard work is going to be finished and enjoyed. I always feel sad when I see a quilt that has been forgotton or neglected. (for some reason, my UFOs & WIPs don't fall into this category, because I know I will eventually finish them. I hope!)

Thank you all for your replies. I have decided to handquilt it, and give it to her for mother's day. She is my best friend's mother, and is sort of like a surrogate mother for me. I really felt that it should be hand quilted with cotton batting, but I wanted it finished quickly, (since Christmas is next month). This will give me more time to finish it the way I want.

Now that my mind is made up, I just need to figure out how to quilt it. LOL.
