I'm 99.9% sure it was the dirty carboned up brushes that was the cause of that problem. The wires were good, connections good, and if I jarred the hand wheel just a tiny bit the machine would take off.
Try using q-tips and denatured alcohol to clean the brushes, their channels, and the armature. You can do all this without disassembling the motor.
