Yes, I always make my turkey like that. Brown it first (I wrap the wing tips with foil otherwise they burn to a crisp) in a 500 oven for about 30-45 minutes, then I unwrap the wing tips and cover the turkey and cook it for the remaining time. I do take it out twice to remove most of the juices (for gravy) and to baste it.
