Hi AnnMarie:
We didn't have a pattern. At our quilt group meeting we take turns doing a "program" which is just teaching the rest of the group how to make a new block. The program that this scrap quilt came from was just such a quilt. We were told to gather up our "scraps" and sew them in strips as wide as you wanted your block to be but it was suggested that we have at least 12 1/2 inches wide strips then we cut each long strip into 12 1/2 inch square BLOCKS. We then cut each of these 12 1/2 inch squares cross-wise from corner to corner ("X" cut corner to corner). Now we have 4 triangles. Throw all the triangle in a bag and pulled them out and sew them to another triangle from another strip section to make new square. My blocks are sewn on point then I used the left over triangles to fill in at the corners and around the edges. Very easy and fun and this particular quilt I put high loft batting in the sandwich so it's very soft and nice. My nephew is going to love it as he's our little quilt guy...he's a cuddler and wants a lap and a quilt to tuck around him. He's 8 years old and getting big for my lap but he still likes it! :D
