Default questions on a quilt

Hi everyone,

One of these days, I will buy enough fabric to finish a project. With that said, here is the problem, I have a quilt that I am working on, and the blocks came through a neighborhood block exchange, and I don't have any extra fabric of the block that I did. I am going to ask some of the ladies if they still have theirs. If they don't then I need to change plans. One plan that I have is that I am doing sashing between the blocks, and then they will be intermingled with snowball blocks. The snowball blocks will have a feathered wreath quilted in them. I don't have a camera to take a picture so here is what I am thinking:

the quilt will be 88x96 (queen size). It will have a border that will be the same color as the sashing between the rows of blocks. So row 1 will be sashing, block, sashing, snowball, sashing, block, snowball. Then row 2 will alternate where there is a block, there will be a snowball, then row 3 will be the same as row 1 and row 4 will equal row 2. I hope this is all making sense.

there will be two borders on top and bottom. One will be the same color as the border on the sides, and then the other will be the same color as the sashings between the blocks. Here is a question for that, I may not have enough of that color, and because it was bought like 2 or 3 years ago, it may be hard to find. Do my borders have to match exactly, or can I use a color that is similar.

The snowball blocks are made of Muslin, so I thought I could try to match that. I am just trying to make this work. It is for my brother in law and I want it to be a special quilt for him.

Thanks for your help and advice.
