My first thought is, I'm wondering if there is a burr or some oil residue causing that. Could you be turning the hand wheel the wrong direction? Is that latch going all the way in or on backwards? Last night I took off every bit of that assembly I could, looking for a burr! What I found got smoothed down. That assembly is clean, clean! The threading path is correct and away from me the handwheel rolls. My next step with be to sand down that latch's edge.
So frustrating! A dear friend found this for me and now that it is cleaned up, it is SO quiet. All except for the cursing that happens when I try to sew!!
