The needlebar on the featherweight runs through the casting. Which means it can do only one thing...go up and down in a straight line, not side ways at all. If upon coming down it does not line up with the needleplate hole, then the hole has moved or the needle itself is at an angle. Make sure the needleplate is not crooked. Make sure the needle is not set up into the bar at an angle.
