Stop motion clamp frozen - featherweight in sad condition
I recently purchased a white featherweight. It is in sad condition. I will
eventually have to strip the paint, sand, prime and repaint. I am slowly taking
off pieces and cleaning them. I am waiting on Dave McCallum's featherweight
book and DVD's before doing too much.
My biggest problem at this point is the stop motion clamp/knob. It is frozen. I
have sprayed the gap between the clamp and the hand wheel with liquid wrench and
PB penetrating catalyst. I stood the machine on the extension plate end and
hoped that the lubricant would soak in and loosen the gunk. I also tried
turning it with a pipe wrench but I could not get a grip on it with my pipe
wrench - maybe my pipe wrench is too big?
I would love to get this cleaned up and working but I am not sure if I can
restore this machine.
Anyone have any suggestions on the stop motion clamp?
