The iPad is definitely going with me! My guess would be that Dad will take his netbook to the hospital with him; this hospital has a decent public hotspot. I've already got his Christmas Kindle wrapped and in the pack stack; Sis will get him a gift cert for books for it, and we'll give it to him before he's admitted, so he can load it.
This is where being a military wife comes in handy-I've had a LOT of practice packing!
