Lisa, although I am not "old enough" :) to know what a typewriter stand is I did learn to type on a cheap little typewriter many moons ago when I was about four or five years old!

That actually sounds like a great idea though. If you don't have addiquit power outlets, I know it kinda sounds (in my neck of the woods we would say) hoosierish, but you could take a tv table, and fix some "clamps" on the bottom to hold a rolled up extension cord(the PROPER cord to use with an iron of course!). for clamps you could use a piece of wide ribbon and sew two D rings on the end. then just use a staple gun to hold it on the bottom of the tray. make either two or four of these to hold your cord!
