I would buy a vintage machine like a 401 or 500 (singer) They will do any thing and last longer than you want to sew. Plus you can hand it down to grandkids. All the new machines are made of plastic and have plastic parts that will wear out fast. Also hard to work on and expensive to fix. Just my opinion between my DH and I we have lots of old machines and one new singer that turned out to be junk, junk. Go to the Vintage Machine Shop on the board and read how much everyone likes the old ladies and not the new babies.
