Default Nephews 'every color' quilt done!

About 2 years ago, I made the mistake of asking my nephew, then 12, if he would like me to make a quilt for him. He said yes, and then proceeded to tell me the colors he wanted in it. I don't think he missed one...and he wanted them all dark. I told him I'd see what I could do, but it had to have some light colors or it would look dull and unfriendly.

Saw this quilt in MCCalls quilting mag, Feb 1, 2011, and knew this was it!

It is titled "Architectural Gem", designed by Susan Guzman. It's made using batiks in 2.5 " strips that I purchased about 2 years ago from Connecting threads.

To me, it has a stained glass look. It sure brightens up a room!

It is quilted in a meander that is made up of loops and birds in flight. The last row was a bear for me to put in - 4 tries before i got it right. But it was worth it.

Hope you enjoy it!
