Default In the Land of Imagination

I wrote this ....this afternoon (12-14-12). Hope you enjoy it.

In the land of imagination
(c) Vickey Stamps

In the land of imagination, we sometimes, as children play
sitting aside the cares of day, as to bed we go and lay
no matter what the age we are, we can still like children be
and hug our dolls or drive our trains and clap our hands in glee

For in our dreams, it matters not, the aches and pains of life
In the land of imagination, we are free from pain and strife
In sleep we run on youthful feet, to greet the days of old
Reviewing times of long ago, when we were young and bold

When Mama and Papa guided us, we learned to laugh and play
Teaching us of right and wrong, putting discipline in each day
Loving and smiling was common. We found it a good thing
They knew we would need all of that, for what life soon would bring

We'd run to be first on a tire swing, or a swim at the swimming hole
For morning would come fast enough, when adulthood was the goal
So Trains, stay on your happy track, and toot a joyful sound
Little girls grab your dolls. Take a ride, as the wheels go round and round

For all too soon, we'll be grown-ups, and face another day
Boys can be conductors and yell out .... "Get aboard! I say"
Yes, in the land of imagination, we can become children once again
And through a hurried night of sleep, we run, we laugh, we grin.
