When I work with lame , I always use a fusible interfacing ( like you use on collars and cuffs) to stabilize it. I do press the fusible interfacing to it... lame on the bottom , fusible interfacing upper layer. Most fusible interfacing is poly , so it too has a low melting point. Do experiment with a couple of small layers of both to get the exact temp on your iron. Each iron is just a bit different .
