My mother is 83 and lives in an apartment in a community with other Seniors, and there is a year-long competition to see who has the prettiest door. She is not doing much quilting any more, so I thought I would like to come up with something special. Thanks in advance!
If you can trace a line, cut on the line, iron and follow a shape on your machine, you can machine applique. It really seriously is not at all hard. The nice thing is with smaller projects, you can applique and quilt at the same time and just add a little bit of background quilting here and there and you're done.
