Really?? I use my electric one all the time and I haven't had a problem. The only blades it won't sharpen for me are my 65mm and any nicked blades. Perhaps you got a bad sharpener? I haven't tried the other one, yet, but all the reviews I read are good.
I'm hoping it works well. Sorry yours doesn't.
