I drew a diagram. On the left is the stem with a dot in the center of the spoon. On the right, the feathers would come from the entire bottom of the stem and you can see how they go in that spoon( or not quite circular circle) never going past the dot. They would continue around the stem until you finish filling in that area with prongs.
