Default Is there a better way?

I am working on a "Midnight Garden" quilt, which I have personally renamed Nightmare in the Garden! In the center where all those nasty little seams come together, I am getting a "lump" and having trouble getting the corners to match up because of the fabric build up. I am trying to make sure that the seams are all pressed the right way but there 109 pieces in the block and I can't seem to plan far enough ahead to have them all match the right way. Is there a way to make sure the seams are the right way at the beginning? I am really hoping there is a shortcut. I plan to make this block into a throw pillow that I will quilt myself...with absoulutely NO meandering. But I hope to make a matching full size quilt.
