You have lots of good ideas shown above, Buckeye Rose. I would back off on the ruffles though. My thought would be to take the final binding off, ask her if she has some more of the black print and if she does, just add a sufficient piece all the way around the quilt--no one will notice the seam if she is going to be using it as an everyday quilt. Match the quilting as much as you can. (oh yeah, I forgot to mention the lining and batting, but once you get my idea, you'll see how to do that), then re-bind it and it is still beautiful. I love the quilt and colors. And someone's suggestion to turn it sideways and use it as a foot quilt (they were very popular in our fce lessons this past year), makes it still useful enough to cover with at night.....
