Go for it! The first "real" quilt I was asked to make was a crib quilt for my daughter - she choose a Carol Doak pattern with a duck! So the colors were tone-on-tone white, pale pink, pale yellow and pale green! After I had started working on it - very, very slowly - it was my first paper piecing attempt, she told me she wanted chenille in it also! So, the ducks all had a piece of chenille in their tails! I was extremely hesitant about her color choices, but they were beautiful together! And yes, I still like to pp.
