Fleece would be at least equal to Soft and Brite by Warm Company. It is a needled poly and quilts up to 10" apart. I have done fleece backings on numerous quilts and have done large designs that would equal 8-10" apart and have had no problems with them. I think you could even go up to 12" on a fleece with no problems, just take into consideration what your top design is and quilt accordingly.
