I have! I can't find my camera (AUUGH!) or I would post pictures...I did a 1600 out of black/brown/yellow batiks and then cut it apart into 6-1/2" squares on the bias and then re-assembled those into 4-patch squares with black sashing between and black borders them to enlarge the quilt. It turned out pretty good! I gave it to my FIL for Christmas, he really liked it.
It came out sort of evoking a feeling of inlaid wood due to the colors.
