Thank you this was just what I needed. I was going to start a Jelly roll but was not sure I really liked some that I saw that the colors seem to be concentrated in 2 lines. My friend suggested cutting it and resewing it but I was not sure it would work. You have made me see it in a new light. I never thought about the appliques either, decision time! Not only did I not have to post a question, I didn't even know I had the question until I read this post! I have just bought a jelly roll to take to our April retreat because it looked like the 1600 quilt is something I can do while talking. Now I know where to find help if I don't like the end results. You ladies are the best. Thank you for the original post and all the great answers.
