Paperprincess--the ombre goes from dark to medium to light and then back to medium and dark from selvage to selvage (so, where the fold is, it is the lightest spot). You would cut the fabric "length of fabric" dividing it where you want the next value of color to be (from the selvage moving towards the center of the fabric, the darkest colors runs for about 12 inches, the medium dark for about 5 inches, the medium for about 5 inches and the lightest for about 5 inches). So, buying one yard of the fabric could give you 5 different shades of the same color. You just cut it in strips running LOF and you will have several strips of several different color values.
