I made a white dust ruffle with lace along the bottom. It is gathered onto an old sheet cut to fit the top of the mattress. I used a machine ruffler attachment and made the dust ruffle gathered, then sewed to the sheet (measure length so it is to the floor. I use it on top of the box springs with my mattress on top and change the quilts I love to use as bedspreads. This has been a good investment for me. If you don't have a ruffler, you can also change settings on a serger so that it will gather.
