Smile when several seams come together in the middle of a block - help!!

help from all master quilters please. when a blcok is created with 5-6 points coming together in the middle (i think it's like a mariners compass), how do you get the block to lay straight in the middle with no puckering? what ideas does anyone have?? isn't there a twisty thing you have to do? or make your seams smaller, just can't get it to lay flat. the sides lay flat and the seams match on the side, but that middle is making me pull my hair!!! thanks in advance for any helpful advice!!
