Sloppy Joes are my DH's favourite, they were a birthday staple as he grew up. His Mom told me how she made them. He turned 62 last year and this was his request for supper on his birthday.
brown 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, drain the fat. Add an onion and celery and season with salt and pepper. Cook until the veggies are soft. Add 1 can chicken gumbo soup, 1/2 can chili sauce, a good squirt of mustard, simmer for 10 minutes or so (or longer). Serve on buns or toast with pickles and potato chips.
