A friend of a friend kept asking me to make her a quilt and she would pay whatever it costs. I had her meet me at the LQS on day to pick out the fabric, pattern, thread, and batting. I told her my cost would be 3 1/2 times the cost of the supplies. After the pattern was picked out and then when she got to looking at the fabric and seeing the cost of that she soon realized the quilt wasn't going to be the $100 she had in her mind. LOL. She made an excuse that she needed to think about her color choice and I haven't heard a word from her about it again. Just be sure the friend has an idea what the quilt will cost before presenting her with a contract. It could be sticker shock.
