Michelle - There are no rules generally on this other than size. There is no reason you could not make 4 12" blocks and put them together to form a 24" center. Or, as someone else stated - make a large block (say 12" on point would give you a center of almost 17" block - then add a border of maybe 2" each side would get you to 21"). That being said ... are you looking for a star? or are you looking for something else? Do you have a certain block in mind? EQ can scale any block up to 48" .
