Default Denim Quilt

May dd asked for a warm, fleece-backed quilt for their very cold basement TV room. She said any pattern would do so I got to play with a new style for me. I saw a sample of one of these denim quilts on Pinterest and thought this would be a great time to try it. I just pulled out six pairs of jeans which were headed for Goodwill, some black fabric from my stash and started cutting. The great part is that the 1" strips in between the denim squares mean you don't have bulky seams and the black really sets it off. I plan to quilt the top with a simple stipple with black binding. There's no fabric left from the jeans to do a border, but for TV watching, I don't think that's a problem. This is like a design-as-you-go project, and went together in no time at all. Just cut lots of squares 2"-4"-6"-8" and maybe 10" and start laying them out in whatever pattern you like. I plan to do another if I can find red and white jeans at Goodwill to add to regular blue denim.
