From the heavier fabrics, you can do quilts for your local shelters. I would make sure the satin is washable, if not, sell it on ebay - or in your local paper. The knit fabrics make a very warm quilt, but again test wash strips. My mil made alot of quilts from polyester squares - when she passed we donated them to the men's shelter as they wash and dried well. Quilts do not have to be 100% cotton.
