Default Quilt Almanac 2013 mag question

Just purchased and while looking thru it one of the pattern directions has me wondering why.........It is page 23 Simply Sunkissed....directs making various colored strips then cutting these into 60degree chunks-half from lower left to upper right, then the other stack of strips reversing that angle from lower right to upper left......ok, but why not just cut all the same way then just flip half so that they are going in the opposite direction. The completed quilt is multi colored, so there is no matching of seams, colors, just columns of 6 1/2" angles pieces. Maybe I am not thinking right....I sort of like this "modern" quilt and was thinking of making it, which is why the question popped into my head...am I thinking right or wrong-just need someone to either agree or show me why......thanks.....
