I was at an elderly gentleman's house for my nursing home-care. He asked if I knew anyone who could use a sewing machine - or would I at least drop it off at a thrift store for him. I said that my daughter could use one. She does simple mending, hemming curtains, etc. He was thrilled that she could use it. She came to visit this weekend and I presented her with the machine. It's heavy as ever - must be solid steel. It sews like new. Everything original, book, all parts, etc. It's such a treasure, and so excellent! She is excited to sew a quilt now. We worked on a few patterns through the weekend. I looked up the serial number and it was mfg in 1960. Can't believe what a find. I take him a loaf of bread, a plate of lasagna now and then, and I"ll have to continue doing that!
