Default Angelica Quilt

In August 2011 I asked if anyone had made the Angelica quilt by Cheryl Phillips at Phillips Fiber Art. No one had.

I think I have had the pattern and the fabric since August 2011. I don't like to do appliqué and this pattern looked like the appliqué was a big part of making the project so pretty.

This week I spent a whole morning choosing the fabrics for the appliqué (nothing like obsessing about something)....then I spent the remainder of the day creating the appliqué. She came out pretty good, but I still need more practice.

The pattern is for a 10 degree wedge ruler. A template for the wedge is included with the pattern. The directions are clear. I spent an equal amount of time cutting fabric and sewing the wedges together as I did making the appliqué!

I'm looking forward to making another one, only the angel will have dark hair.

Thanks for looking.

The camera flash washed out the embroidery on the 'face'.
