I think it is going to look Great, remember the log cabing does not look wright until you put it all togeather. There are 50 ways you can put the block togeather when they are done so keep on working on it you are doing great. In reference to the solid black, either put it in the same place on the block or delete it altogeather. The eye goes to the solid black and you do not see the whole block.
I love black and white, and this quilt will be so cool looking when its done!! I always hope that when someone says " I need your opinion" that they actually do want it, so - I agree with the statement that your eye goes to the solid black. If you are going to use it, I'd put it on the last row. Also, the white cow fabric has a lot of black for the size of the strip. I think it will be fine in this graphic quilt, but you might want to keep scale of fabric in mind for the future . Can't wait to see it finished!
