They are similar in look (if that's the block you were both referencing), but the construction is very different.
The hummingbird is made up of 4 smaller
square blocks, giving the appearance that the star is on point.
Also, the secondary pattern is different - no more octagon shape, which is what I think makes the Spiderweb quilt so cool.
Alas, you still have to match up all those points when joining the blocks.
Thanks for mentioning it - I hadn't heard of the "hummingbird" block before.
