A few days ago, I posted on the main page that my sewing room was being transformed into a birthing room.

Poor Jennie labored for several DAYS. She was stuck at 7 cm - the most painful part of labor - for over 9 hours and the baby was face up instead of the easier face downward position, so we took her to the hospital. There was no emergency, and the heartbeat was strong and Jennie's BP and pulse were great, but she was so tired and there was no break between contractions and we thought it was time to get her some pain relief so she could rest a bit. During the drive to the hospital, she finished dilating and the baby turned into the correct position, so there wasn't even time to do an epidural... she just pushed her out quickly and without much pain. The hospital midwife and nurse were friends-of-friends, so it was all very nice. They spent the night there and came home today. Little Adisyn Rose is thriving.

And there is nothing like youth... after four days of little-to-no-sleep, I look like death warmed over. 19 yo Jennie looks like she just went for a stroll in the park.

Jennie is happy because she got to do all of the long labor at home, able to move around, use the birthing tub, take showers, eat and drink what she wanted, visit with friends, etc. She is disappointed that she didn't get to deliver at home, but it worked out fine.
