My thoughts are that this 2 shelves design would make it MORE sturdy, but I think it is a bit expensive. If space is a factor, then the folding part is great. If you can afford it, why not give it a try? Otherwise, an office type table on blocks or bed risers, or the one from Joanns would be much cheaper. Please let us know the rest of the story! :-) Laura
