Hi Kathie,
We are from Saskatchewan and have been coming to AZ for 4 winters now. We also chose east of Phoenix, and have just purchased in a Park. Some parks are very reasonable to purchase but monthly fees are high, others are more expensive to purchase, but you own the land under the trailer and fees plus taxes are much lower. Some parks are housing and not Park Model trailers. E-mail me privately if you want more info.
We thought about buying a house instead when the prices were lower, but like the activities in the park, plus the people have been so friendly. My suggestion would be to come down and rent for a while to get the feel of a park if you think that is what you may want. I quilt in the sewing room(many lovely ladies in the group), go for walks daily, we have a dance here every Fri night, and hubby and I go to movie most Sat nights, he hikes in two of the three hiking groups. There are so many more activities here and about you can do, plus trips to plan. I am taking a bus this Friday from the park to the Phoenix quilt show, and hubby and I are taking off for a few days after that to Carsbad Caverns, to snowy up at Grand Canyon to go there as we had planned right now.
Let me know if you want to know more. Lots of our friends go to Yuma as well, but we chose here first as have a cousin that lives here.
Where we live I can drive, it's on the very, very outskirts of Phoenix - Apache Junction. All amenities, plus a Hobby Lobby and quilt shop that I can drive too!!(and that saying something as I don't drive in big cities I don't know, as we come from a small village of 250 people)
Enough of me blathering. If you want more info just e-mail.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear from you. I am planning a trip to Arizona in February or March of this year.

Thank you.
