I have always just had a cheap walmart sewing machine... well it is on it's last leg and I am needing a new one. Went to my local Quilt shop just to look around and she was showing me the Bernina 215... I watched her sew on it and wow, I was amazed! I have a Bernina (20 years old) 1260 and an Artista 165 that also has the embroidery module. Once you have a Bernina you will not want another make. They are work horses and have all metal gears. A lot of the machines now have plastic and don't last as long. Go Bernina if you can possibly afford to, you won't be sorry.
