Milli,
I find it very difficult to decide how to make a square quilt, rectangular....
I am no expert but what I am doing is adding a large row or two, at the top and bottom of that square made of the same block pattern than the original block pattern. As the center of my quilt is almost the size of the width of the bed, my added rows, lengthwise, meet the size of the quilt I want to make. Of course it doesn't look like the original pattern anymore but that the best solution I found suitable for me... Then, I sew a 1 or 2 inches contrasting border to frame it all before I work on a border that will drop on each side of the whole quilt.
I don't know if I am clear and if I make myself understood
I know the dilemma of making a square quilt become rectangular and it is a long thinking process. Good luck and show us what you come up with!
Thanks qltgrose, I assure you that those triangles were even flying in my dreams... all those points.
