Before taking it in, try unplugging it overnight and then plug it back in and try it out again. It had to be that it reset by unplugging it. So try that first! And if that doesn't help, leave some fabric with the rat's nest on the sewing machine so they can see what it is doing for you in case it doesn't do that for them.
