The block for doing this is similar if not 'spot on' to taking the Stone Masons Puzzle block. One way it can be done is measure and sew together 3 fabric strips together lengthwise, cut 90 degree triangles and sew together (yup, bias seams) forming square. Place the small square in the center instead of the outer corner (flip the pieced square around-opposite of what the pattern says. Templates are used instead of the fabric strips when doing the traditional block, available online. I got mine from Jinny Beyer's site, Free Patterns. There's the block that would get set on point, and wouldn't be difficult to figure out the rest of the quilt.
